I am looking at getting a snow blower. I prefer the rear mount type but don't like the idea of driving backwards on a 1/4 mile dive. I read somwhere atha a Canadian Company called something like Pronovvost makes a 3PH blower that has a reversible shield that aloows it to operate in either FORWARD or REVERSE. Sounds too good to be true, is it? Then If I could hook a freedom hitch to it were be very simple.Has anyone seen one of these or better yet uesed one?

They have been around forever...in fact most were home-made from scrap metal and spare parts... The problem is they require you to drive over the snow before the blower can get to it, so creating two (or more) strips of hard-packed snow that the blower cannot remove, this process gets repeated every time it snows. After a few snow storms, especially wet heavy snows, you have a real mess to deal with. However, if you can get a front-mounted blower, thats a different story, they are the ticket. Best of luck. ....

Has anyone with either a Rear Blade or a Rear Blower tried rigging up a mirror so that they would not have to turn around all the time when driving backwards, or is this just too dangerous or awkward? ....

I have seen the Pronovost blower that you can use in either direction for blowing snow,it is quite impressive. But if I remember right it weighs 2000#'s or in that area.Quite Aload for A compact tractor.I was also interested in that model but because of weight I opted for A Pronovost 72"wide by 30"high cut weight 800#'s.I own A JD4600 MFWD PWR REV.It will take A full swath with A little snow flowing over the top of the blower with no problem.I had A Woods Alloway 74"and the Pronovost will run circles around the Woods.Pronovost was $2800.Woods $3200. I have phone #'s if anyone is interested.
